Italian Sour Coleslaw
- 3 c chopped cabbage
- 1 c julienned carrots
- 1/4 c each; raisins, dried cherries, dried cranberries
- 1/4 c slivered almonds
- 2 c Simple & Sour Italian
- 1/2 c mayo
Mix together all ingredients and adjust mayo to suit desired creaminess. Check out our YouTube Video for this recipe!
Half Chicken BBQ
Place chicken half onto BBQ grill on medium high. Allow to cook to internal temp of 165˚ while repeatedly brushing on our Village Eatinghouse Simple & Sour Italian during cooking process.
Use any of our sauces for this.
Italian Hummus
- 2 T sesame seeds
- 4 hard boiled eggs
- 1⁄2 c chopped celery
- 3 T mayonnaise
- 1 T Simple & Sour Italian
- 2 T minced onion
Toast sesame seeds in a shallow pan at 350˚ for 5 minutes. Shake occasionally for even browning. Combine all ingredients. Serve on warmed crusty French bread or bagel chips as a tasty appetizer.
Italian BBQ Sauce
- 1 c ketchup
- 1 c water
- 1⁄4 c lemon juice
- 3 T Worcestershire sauce
- 2 T brown sugar
- 2 T cider vinegar
- 2 T Simple & Sour Italian
Combine and simmer all ingredients uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring regularly. Cool and use on chicken or pork on your BBQ grill.
Deviled Eggs/ Egg Salad
- 18 hard boiled eggs, halved lengthwise with yolks in separate bowl
- 1⁄4 c Simple & Sour Italian
- 2 T mayonnaise
Thoroughly combine Simple & Sour Italian and mayonnaise with egg yolks. Use a spoon or pastry bag to fill egg whites. Sprinkle with paprika for color. Enjoy!
For Egg Salad - Use as many eggs as you like, and chop them. Add the Simple & Sour Italian to taste - add a touch of mayo for consistency and enjoy!
Simple Bruschetta Grilled Cheese
- 2 Slices sourdough bread
- Sliced Fresh Mozzarella
- Sliced Tomato
- Fresh Basil
- 1⁄4 c Simple & Sour Italian
Pour 1/2 the dressing onto a flat bread plate and lay/soak one side of first slice of bread in it. Put that slice - wet side down - into your heated (on low) pan. Construct the sandwich, carefully placing cheese, tomato & basil. Lay/soak the other piece of bread and place that on top of sandwich - Heat sandwich and flip halfway through. Heat through and Enjoy!
This works great for any grilled cheese you concoct! We love to create many variations of this sandwich!
Macaroni Salad
- 1 lb Elbow Mac - cooked
- 1 c sweet relish
- 1 c Simple & Sour Italian
- 2 T mayonnaise
Add Simple & Sour Italian to cooked pasta to coat. Add mayo to desired consistency.
